I should spend a few minutes congratulating everyone who got awards at Yule. So many friends got awards. Brenna, Sara, and Anne getting their Sodalities. Mea and Ciarnat getting their Sable Cranes. And Godwin getting a Pearl. All of them well deserved, as they are all hard working members of Stargate and Ansteorra. On a lesser note, I got my Crane also. Lesser, because I am a self ackwoledged slacker, anyone out there knows I don't volunteer to do anything, sure I will help out from time to time, and I take my pictures, but I usually avoid anything to resembles prolonged work. I guess I don't really feel like I deserved it, because I don't feel like I have done any work. :) That being said, I am happy that there are ways to contribute that go beyond the norm in the SCA. And I will proudly wear my Crane because I know someone(s) felt I had contributed enough to deserve it.
I joked with Brenna, that it had been 16 years since my last award (my AoA), and I am shooting for 20 before the next. So I will continue to be my "lazy" self. As a side note, one I find amusing. My Crane scroll, has the same mis-spelling of my name as my AoA scroll. LOL Brenna fixed my name in the Order of Precedence, but apparently it was after the Award req went through. My own fault, I never had it corrected even though I knew it was wrong for years. Its two minor errors, Colwyn of Snowdon, as opposed to Collwyn O'Snowdon.
Other things of interest at Yule. Feast was very good. I normally don't find most feast all that great. But this one was very well done. The bread pudding with bourbon sauce was fantastic. The Tower Watch was looking very spiffy. And last by not least, Brenna received her protege belt from Karl and Kasilda. I think its a great match, and I know that some day she will achieve her goal. She puts in a lot of hard work, and rarely (if ever) asks for my help. So its all her! When she does become a Pelican, it will be because she deserved it, there is no doubt.
I will finish up with a picture I took at Yule. Little Miss A was dancing away to the drummers, and I happen to get a bit of lens flare in the form of a rainbow. This was straight out of the camera, no photoshopping.

You deserve the crane. You do more for the Kingdom than you think you do!
